The transfer portion of your question is best handled by version control
systems like svn or cvs.  This allows you to not only transfer the files,
but also gives you the ability to track changes that may have been performed
by developers other than your self.  It is a good way of identifying if the
party receiving the code has performed some modification that might be
causing problems you should be aware of.
