Khalid, I am not trying to reopen that discussion here. I was responding more 
to Alex's assertion that "Drupal supports 2 versions and that's a fact". 
While true, it's not an immutable law of nature; it's an intentional stance 
taken by the community, and I wanted to place its effects within the context 
of the discussion we were having.

It was helpful for you to point out where that discussion takes place. 
Everyone who considers these issues important should also share their 
experiences when the topic comes up again.
