I would put my money on 4/15/10 +/- 30 days for launch of D7 (and hence the mothballing of D5). While all the work on a testing framework, in theory, should shorten the length of time from code freeze to launch, there are other mitigating factors.<br>
<br><ul><li>the testing framework is new</li><li>consensus within the community that highly influential contrib modules must be ready at launch of D7 or very close to it</li><li>lots of API changes, probably fields in core being the biggest</li>

I ask a stupid question? How did people know that Drupal 5 will be<br>
EOL's in 9 months? I am on this list and the support list and the<br>
security list and I get the RSS feed from Drupal.org front page, but<br>
this wasn't announced any of those places (unless I really fell<br>
asleep). I just joined the development list and I'm hoping that was<br>
the list I was missing. But can anyone share what other lists or feeds<br>
you read to stay current with Drupal?<br>

with web development overall? I get ZDnet but it's 80% irrelevant to<br>
me, generally speaking. :)<br>
