Greetings,

It is a tall order to find an available venue that can hold the 2000+ people for a week long conference and our proposed dates are the only available dates at the Moscone Center until Summer 2010. Realistically, given the expanding size of Drupalcon, the conference scheduling decisions should be made more than a year in advance.

The Drupalcon SF team is in weekly contact with the Moscone Center and the city of San Francisco to see if other event dates become available and will do everything in our power to make sure our proposal is as inclusive and wonderful as possible.
Once the oversight was pointed out to them, it should be pretty easy (I'm hoping, anyways) to persuade them that these dates need to be changed.
Hi Folks,

A great group of Drupal folks from San Francisco are putting together what looks like a fantastic proposal for DrupalCon 2010.

They've got a web site launched at: http://drupalconsf2010.org/

Unfortunately, the proposed conference dates, March 29 - 31, are during the first two nights of Passover when Jews gather with their families and friends to conduct the Passover "seder," a reenactment of the leaving of Egypt. This is probably the most compelling Jewish ritual there is and even very assimilated Jews take part in this ceremony. There has been a lot of creativity around this ritual in recent years which makes it even more compelling for even marginally religious Jews.

I'm Jewish and I personally know a lot of Jewish Drupal developers. I just think it would be a shame to force us to have to make this choice.

Anyway, it would be great if folks advocated against these dates in support of Jewish Drupal developers.

I think the best way to voice this right now is on Twitter, though I think I'll start a thread on drupal.org <http://drupal.org> and post back here. The relevant Twitter accounts are @DrupalConSF and maybe @dries as well.

Thanks in advance for those who are supportive of this objection.
