If we create an image directory then I would strongly suggest creating
a /images/icons sub directory where Drupal icons can be placed.
Further, I would suggest adopting the Linux convention for icon folder
names and structure. This would allow people to easily swap icon
sets for their site.<br>

As 4.7 continues to grow and new files are added or about to be added<br>(like the forthcoming textarea patch, w00t indeed!), I think it's time<br>for an early spring cleaning on this folder. I recommend the<br>following:
