I would highly recommend learning the CLI git interface in place of
TortoiseGit. Once you know the basics, it's not that scary, and it's
incredibly powerful. That said, it's your call. <br>

The Git Community Book at <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://book.git-scm.com/index.html">http://book.git-scm.com/index.html</a> is a
great resource, whether you use the command line or a GUI. It is
command-line focused, but regardless of your chosen interface, it
provides a very useful understanding of how Git works under the
cover. Understanding these concepts will go a long ways to helping
you understand what exactly the various buttons or commands do to
your repository.<br>
