[support] translation (i18n) question: categories

Hi,

If I create a sub category in 2 languages , the translation module lets me
map the two sub categories (under 'new translation'). What exactly does
this achieve?

If someone posts under english, does it automatically get tagged under the
spanish sub category too?

Also, I want to add 'block title' to the list of translatable
variables..what exactly is the variable? is there an easy way to find out?
