an earlier suggestion to use mysql in command line mode seemed to me to 
be a good one.  Even with a capable screen reader, I think it might be 
hard to manage a database that way.

I also think it might be faster, as you should spend much less time 
navigating the screen.

to access mysql directly, just open a terminal window and log in to 
mysql.
