[drupal-support] Mailhandler connection failed

Hello,

Does anyone have any suggestions about why my
mailhandler pop3 connection is failing?

I've managed to telnet to the exact same location,
with no problem at all.  So I know the port and
server/domain name are correct, as well as the
username and password.  One thought - does mailhandler
automatically remove the domain name if it's at the
end of the username (because my host requires the
domain name as part of the username).

I've tried adding /notls, and also /norsh and
/novalidate-cert (though I don't know what those are),
but to no avail.  I've also tried connecting through
the IMAP settings, just for the heck of it.

Any suggestions?
