[support] CCK fields

I have Drupal 5.3

I installed the CCK just fine.   The additions of link, date, and image
field were added to the following directories:
sites/all/modules/date
sites/all/modules/link
sites/all/modules/imagefield

The date one is giving me a hassle and caused some errors which I am not
sure if something is completely broken or not.
Message/Table 'drupal.cache_views' doesn't exist query: DELETE FROM
cache_views WHERE cid = 'date_browser_views'/ in
//apps/resin/www/whatis_drupal/webapps/ROOT/includes/database.mysql.inc/
on line /172/.
AND the error message:
/'././views.module' is not a valid path [date_clear_all]/ in
//apps/resin/www/whatis_drupal/webapps/ROOT/sites/all/modules/date/date.install/
on line /49/.
I did not see where I needed something before I installed the date
module (short of CCK itself).

Is there an easy fix for this?  Do I need to fix anything?

The last issue when adding a group or a field is giving me this error:
Validation error, please try again. If this error persists, please
contact the site administrator.
Where is this coming from?   Why is it random?   And how can I fix it?

I should say ... I had another dev machine, and I added most of my
fields before I downloaded link, date, or imagefield ...
And I did not get any of these validation errors .... this is maddening
since it doesn't tell me what is not validated.
