[support] Event module showing 1969 dates

We are running 5.7 and all events created are showing a date of Start:
12/31/1969 - 16:00

This is a weekly meeting that will occur at the sbinfoshop each
tuesday until we get the website up and running.

Any clue on what I should check to fix this?  I've tried Timezones on
/ off and some other combos.  Should I try re-installing the event
module?  Running upgrade.php (it's a fresh install) ?
