[support] how to embed a node inside another node

I understand and have used these modules (Views and Panels) but that is not what I was talking about in terms of "stacked" content.

For example, I would find it useful to be able to have an image node with caption (which has it's own simple template) and insert that easily and with original formatting into an article node, easily pick a template for the article node, then take that article node and insert it into another node.

This kind of building block approach can solve a lot of design problems, such as quickly developing a wide variety of different page layouts in a site starting with just a few base templates. But I assume you can't really do this in Drupal.

I had actually helped design a proprietary CMS around 2000 which did this kind of thing, and have been looking since for a good CMS which uses similar logic.

CCK Nodereference is the closest thing I have seen in Drupal, but it is simultaneously not powerful enough and too complex.

I love many things about Drupal, but its lack of really powerful and easy templating systems is a real stumbling block for designers like me.
