Hi Gary,

There's a handful of folks with similar experiences sharing their
success, problems, best practices, and ideas at
http://groups.drupal.org/newspapers-on-drupal

Periodically there are announcements of high school or college
newspaper migrations that you should be able to find in the group.

After joining groups.drupal.org and becoming a member of the
Newspapers group I suggest reviewing the list of other groups at
http://groups.drupal.org/groups which may lead you to more resources
(local or topical) that could be useful.
