Want to have some more details about these:
On your website, are the variables is in the form of 
vocabularies/taxonomies or cck fields ?

If the answer to the upper question is yes then you just need to expose 
the fields in views2. That will do the job for you.

Just include the according cck fields/vocabularies to your view and 
click expose for each field you include.
