Nestor, it seems to me you should check out the possibility of using NLTM as
an _external_ login. An simple example as well as one using LDAP as an
external login is given in Chapter 6 of Pro Drupal Developoment 2nd edition
(you are using Drupal 6, aren't you? if this is a new project, you
definitely should be at this point).
