[support] is eCommerce viable?

Hi,

I feel that e-Commerce is a viable solution. We have just released the new version which has taken a number of years to rewrite a lot of e-Commerce fixing a lot of areas which were implemented in a method that from an account POV is just not right, and also things like how we treat customers. Areas include such things as treating Transactions and Receipts separately, and also being able to check that your e-Commerce in completely in balance via the Drupal system status page.

I have deployed this at a number of sites, and the latest being http://auschamps.com.au/shop which is about to launch in the next week.

Yes I agree that the documentation and tutorials have are bit lacking, but I hope over time that they will become much better. ATM we have been concentrating on getting the best possible solution out there, and right now I have been concentrating on the D7 release, which because of the dependencies of Views, Ctools, Rules and Views Bulk Operations which currently do not have final stable D7 releases, I will need to wait until all of these have stable releases before I can seriously call a release of e-Commerce stable, but I do hope to have the first beta out in the next month or so, which I am hoping will be mostly usable.

With PayPal I have made sure that the implementation in as complete as possible. Not only does e-Commerce support IPN, but also PDT (Payment Data Transfer) which guarantees that when the customer returns from PayPal their payment will be updated by passing a token to allow the users session to complete the validation of the payment.

e-Commerce is still very much in active development and we have some really great plans which are going to be coming over the next couple of months.
