Jeff,

We installed LDAP and LDAP Help.  LDAP Help 
(http://drupal.org/project/ldaphelp) was the key for us to get this running.


      LDAP Help Module

This module is meant to assist Drupal admins in configuring, debugging, 
sharing, and submitting support and bug request related to LDAP 
integration modules.
