[support] drush and drupal

Good evening list,
    
I'm thinking about using drush and after going over the drush page i'm
still having some basic questions about it. I hope somebody can
enlighten me ...

1) my box is an xp sp3, so i need the windows installer to install it
on my pc, correct?
2) i'm on a shared host, do i need (ask the host) to install something on the server
also?

Step 1 and 2 done: ready to use drush?
