Yes, definitely.  Drupal 5 is all but dead and you need to upgrade but
be sure to upgrade to the most current D5 versions of all modules
before going to D6.  When going to D6 choose the most current versions
of modules for D6 then go to D7.  You cannot skip the update to D6.
