There is the Taxonomy Menu module (<a href="http://drupal.org/project/taxonomy_menu" target="_blank">http://drupal.org/project/taxonomy_menu</a>). I've tried it and it's okay. I'm in the process of<br>
writing my own module that will do more of what you want, as well as display nodes under those categories. My idea is to create<br>
the menu and then use nice_menus to create the drop down effect.<br>
