That's the relavant part here; not what your local box is.</div><div><br></div><div>I'd pursue the settings.php way. But don't do it via FTP. Do it via your server company's file manager. And you might have to loosen up permissions in advance of editing the file and then tighten them back up after you have edited the file.</div>

I tried the htaccess way and i got a fatal 500 error, then i also
tried the settings.php way and the file wont FTP back onto my

think that doc was written when most shared hosts
defaulted to 8MB or 16MB and so upping it to 32MB made
a difference. Given the error message you reported,
you already have 32MB of available memory. But it
still isn't surprising that you get the error,
depending on what version of Drupal you are using and
what modules you have installed. I have my own server
and my master php.ini is for accounts to have 128MB of
memory available for Drupal.</div>
