If you continue down the line with Commerce module, you can create a product and using Rules (or implement a hook in code, but Rules will allow you to do it without programming) change the price at the time of order to the value of your CCK field.<br>

We have the commerce and paypal modules set up and working in drupal 7.<br>

Or alternatively is there a way to send the reservations details stored<br>
by Drupal to paypal so that we can do reconciliation of the Drupal data<br>
to the paypal receipts.<br>
