I'm on your side in this option.

Forums are the right place to discuss support! Any user can give support to others without having to go through an issue tracker that seems more connected to development.

I think we should do the opposite, and use the forums exclusively for
support.

Combined with the categorization, that should give us the required
tools to make this feasible.
