Icons...

Drupal only allows GPL licenced icons to be in its repository (for private projects, however, you may use what you want). There has been a consensus about using the "Tango project" icons within Drupal ( http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Desktop_Project). But these icons are not available under a GPL licence. There are, however, some Tango icons in our repository, for examle in modules/views.

There is definitely a need to rediscuss this issue. If we allow CC licenced icons, we could switch to http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/ as they provide a lot more icons suited for a CMS environment, wheras Tango project is aimed towards a (Linux) Desktop/Window manager.

I'm working on a bunch of file specific stuff, and I've been trying to
do some little things to spruce up the file forms. One thing I've done
is add a filetype icon... I borrowed some from PHP File Navigator
(http://pfn.sourceforge.net). I'm not sure if their licensing allows me
to use them, and I want to avoid any possible license conflicts... Can
anyone recommend a place to find freeware icons for filetypes...
preferably as images... all I keep finding are .ico's....
