Mine was either the Trash-80, or the Vic-20; I don't remember which
came first. The TRS was at school, and the Commodore at home. The
Vic-20 had 5K RAM, and I fondly remember when we got a 16K expander
cartridge (along with the inevitable 'What will I do with all that
memory?') The first thing I remember writing was a scrolling adventure,
where I created an Olde English font pixel by pixel by hacking directly
into its core memory. (I'm sure I wrote practice stuff before that, but
this is what, 30 years ago?)
My father later gave me a CCP/M with a washing machine 8" floppy drive
from his office; the computer may have been older than the others, but
I really have no idea anymore. I wrote a text-based Star Wars game,
complete with X-Wing fighters and light sabers using DataStar on that
computer.
