wordpress and drupal integration
I've got a huge multi-site with drupal on my server, each website contains totally different content like games, movies,... I needed to make a main page with a custom front-page theme which shows updates from all the sites under this multi, news about my client company and some other stuff. It's like a portal like yahoo.com as front-page and mail,news,weather,jobs,... as multi But the problem here is that root address and main page is already with wordpress and we don't have any plan to change this, so we decided to add all this portal front-page and updates to wordpress front page. If you have anything here or strategy to share with me, I'll be thankful. We also offer a hosting server, so all the wordpress, drupal multi-sites and vBulletin are on the same server and can share database. One way is to edit wordpress theme and retrieve all the data directly from drupal database which I don't like this. Kind reminder that this is a support question and does not have to do with development of Drupal. See http://drupal.org/community and http://drupal.org/mailing-lists for more information. Before posting search d.o for possible information. http://drupal.org/search/apachesolr_multisitesearch/wordpress -- Earnie -- http://progw.com -- http://www.for-my-kids.com
IMO, that's not a very smart design decision. Cost of maintenance is going to be much lower if you ditch one of the systems (*cough* wordpress *cough*) and roll everything into one system. That way, you don't have to find somebody that knows both Wordpress and Drupal. Plus, if you use Drupal, you get Panels, Views, and CCK which is all you should really need to duplicate the functionality of Yahoo's homepage. :) Thanks, Cameron On Thu, Apr 7, 2011 at 08:54, Earnie Boyd <earnie@users.sourceforge.net>wrote:

You're right. But that's not me who makes the decisions. I'm a big drupal fan but my client needs to retrain his employees who update wordpress site to learn how to use Drupal and they don't want to pay more money again to migrate from wordpress to drupal when all they need is just posting news(wordpress is the best for their case) On Thu, Apr 7, 2011 at 8:17 PM, Cameron Eagans <cweagans@gmail.com> wrote:

If they were -only- posting news, I'd agree with you. However, the cost of integrating Wordpress and Drupal would be much higher than simply migrating. There's even a module that will help you do it. Anyways, that's my $0.02. Good luck. Thanks, Cameron On Thu, Apr 7, 2011 at 13:58, Pooya <pooya.source@gmail.com> wrote:

thank you Nancy but I actually need a way to see if user in wordpress is logged in as a drupal user and retrieve some profile information, even if I had to code WP theme and check root address cookie on both CMSs. I'll find my way to achieve this somehow and share this here :) you guys already gave me some idea and help thx On Fri, Apr 8, 2011 at 3:55 AM, nan wich <nan_wich@bellsouth.net> wrote:
