[drupal-devel] [feature] Show taxonomy admin link on taxonomy admin form
Project: Drupal Version: cvs Component: taxonomy.module Category: feature requests Priority: normal Assigned to: Goba Reported by: Goba Updated by: Goba Status: patch Attachment: http://drupal.org/files/issues/Drupal-add-taxonomy-admin-link.patch (773 bytes) Not waiting for the HIG ;), this is a quick idea ported from Basecamp [1], to let admins jump to the taxonomy admin pages whenever they find that they need to extend the categories. I often come to the conclusion that the available terms are not enough, and I need to add more, in which case this link is quite handy. Otherwise it will probably be debated :) [1] http://www.basecamphq.com/tour-posting.php Goba -- View: http://drupal.org/node/16027 Edit: http://drupal.org/project/comments/add/16027
Project: Drupal Version: cvs Component: taxonomy.module Category: feature requests Priority: normal Assigned to: Goba Reported by: Goba Updated by: Boris Mann Status: patch Goba -- looks good. Question: I've been working a bit with taxonomy-otf. This might be extended, or indeed rolled into taxonomy proper, to offer a field underneath each vocab displayed. There would of course be a "create new taxo-otf" permission so it could be limited (or, in the case of blogs for example, used as a tag-like system). Good idea? Leave it in taxo-otf? Boris, this would indeed be nice, but one huge limitation is that users can't really manage their terms, they can just create them. I think any time we extend the permission of creating taxonomy terms we ought to extend the permission of editing and deleting at least one's own terms. This is a real drawback of teaxonomy_otf at the moment. cheers, Robert

Folksonomy module is also something to look at in this area. Project: Drupal Version: cvs Component: taxonomy.module Category: feature requests Priority: normal Assigned to: Goba Reported by: Goba Updated by: Boris Mann Status: patch I think folksonomy has very specific uses as a multiply-contributed-to tag-based system. The manageability of taxo-OTF could apply just as easily to a centrally-controlled taxonomy.
