[drupal-devel] Drupal conference, Amsterdam
Hello world, next month, many of us will be in Amsterdam to attend the Drupal conference: http://drupal.org/conference-amsterdam-2005. The goal is to meet in person, to educate new users, to brainstorm about the future of Drupal, to get some development done, and to have fun in and around Amsterdam. Antwerp was fun, Portland was fun, Amsterdam will be fun too so better be there. People can self-organize and get some hacking done in small or large groups; we'll provide the space. To do so, we're renting a venue for either 2 or 3 days -- Ber and Bert are finalizing the deal. Furthermore, Boris secured some funding so the Drupal conference will be free to attend. I really would like to see a discussion and meeting for a better (newer) media handling in Drupal. So I still volunteer for this (in addition to my relations talk, not instead of) media: Title: Drupal in media communities Description: Look at the present state of media handling in drupal. Look at communities around media in Drupal. Podcasting, Vodcasting, Remixing, Creative Commons, scattered file storage (flickr), import of media and so on. Colin has been working on the audio node. Farsheed is working on the playlist module, and the Artist profile in CivicSpace. Uwe has modified the video node and now supports channels(feeds) for the Democracy TV client. We have one torrent tracker available and I just got permission to GPL a second if it's presented in a non-piracy context. Aggregator supports enclosures. We have been talking with the Internet Archive about long term storage of media from CivicSpace/Drupal sites. This would be a good topic because we should have an integrated solution for Drupal as a media aggregation, remix, and broadcast platform in the next few weeks. Cheers, Kieran

yup. remixreading is about to hit its second release. check out www.remixreading.org. it was too lite last night to get it fully converted. We are on it now. Soon to be released on the same codebase: remixbrighton remixsomerset and remixcantrememberitsname. But though we (Drupal) are on the way. An integrated system is on its way, there is no good solution yet. all modules, packages etc are very much bolted on, still. that is what id like to discuss most: to standardise the size, format, and concepts of those 'bolts'. Since John VanDyk won't be able to make it to this conference, I will run a session on CCK. Content Creation Kit Current status of the new system for node types and planning for continuing development.
