From a discussion about NLD10 and xgl. I thought it was very relevant to the drupal devel crowd:

There are definitely some interesting points in there. And we can see the same dynamics at work already in Drupal to some extent. Funny, in a way, that the article relates to the Gnome project.. Trae and I had a bit of a discussion of Drupal and Gnomeish ways such as putting a lot of thought into picking "sane defaults" that will work well for many people. That way of thinking could be one of the things that moves Drupal up Dries' Y-axis of "easy to use" (from his roadmap presentation in Vancouver). Good thing it's so easy to make modules for Drupal to build new functionality without any fork-mongering :) -Rowan

I officially became a sushi addict ... but I feel like toast right now. That said, I'll share my roadmap thoughts/presentation as soon as I have my life back. (I'm still in Vancouver right now.) -- Dries Buytaert :: http://www.buytaert.net/

Tragic Headlines: Drupal 4.7 release delayed, mercury poisoning wipes out core developers.

Sushi is Da Bomb.
Just to be contrarian: I had sushi elsewhere, and was indifferent to it. Boris showed me the Ichiban Ya restaurant (an obscure underground thing), and I had sushi and teryiaki there TWICE! I did use a fork though, since I don't feel it is necessary to learn how to use chopsticks ... (Hears cries of: Heretic! Off with his head!)

Yeah, well just don't try that at the Ninja restaurant.... http://www.ninja.tv Best regards, Robert
Now that is scary: I type "ichiban ya vancouver" in FireFox's URL box, and what comes up? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ichiban+ya+vancouver Thanks Boris .. On 2/13/06, Khalid B <kb@2bits.com> wrote:

It's interesting, as I don't see the negative aspects so strong in the Drupal community like they are referred to the GNOME community in that e-mail. Maybe I just haven't been here long enough. :^) I see them in other projects, but would be way OT here. -- Jason Flatt http://www.oadae.net/ Father of Six: http://www.flattfamily.com/ (Joseph, 13; Cramer, 11; Travis, 9; Angela; Harry, 5; and William, 12:04 am, 12-29-2005) Linux User: http://www.sourcemage.org/ Drupal Fanatic: http://drupal.org/
