It obsoletes taxonomy_context_show_children and taxonomy_context_show_nodes and replaces them by themable functions. The recursion in taxonomy_context_show_children has been removed from the themable function. taxonomy_context_show_term and taxonomy_context_show_subterms are next on the list for conversion to themable functions. This is not a definitive function, but it should provide a basis for testing and applying interim patched for other issues.
