One of them (Calendar?) specifically says to use the -dev versions. I am doing so and not having any problems.

I am currently trying to run with the following.
7.x-1.0-alpha4 CTools
7.x-2.0-alpha1 Calendar
7.x-2.0-alpha3 Date
7.x-3.0-beta3 Views

And cannot get them to play ball...
