Yesterday I discovered that one of the sites I support didn't have the "www" redirect turned on in .htaccess, so of course the search engines saw it as two different sites. I fixed that.

 

But today, the site owner noticed a Google Alert that had the IP address in it. Does this also cause search engines to see it as a different site? If so, can I add another Rewrite rule for the IP address (we own the IP)?
