I completely agree. I used GoDaddy until I starting using Drupal. Everything was incredibly slow. I switched to BlueHost, saving $8/month and got incredible service and no problems for over a year now.

My experience with anything less than a dedicated server at Godaddy is that speed is frequently a problem. I would suggest hosting elsewhere.

It apparently DID timeout. I called GoDaddy, they tested the database
and said it was working.
