Depending on the theme it may store the color scheme as a .css file in /files/color/theme_name-id-code/color.css

  a color scheme to be **saved as** a new color scheme.

  FYI : I did find a module called "Custom Save As". Attempts to use
  it generated PHP errors. I see issues linked from the module
  download site that indicate similar errors and no movement to
  correct. We will not use it.

  This topic is for down my list of priorities. When I get more
  acquainted with drupal, I will look again.
