You may have some luck simply using the Views module with exposed date filters and something like http://drupal.org/project/views_calc or http://drupal.org/project/views_groupby to calculate sums per time period. http://drupal.org/project/views_bonus could also provide a CSV export.

Did you ever get a response to this?  I have a project under development that might be able to do this for you.  It's a general reporting solution that lets you write reports against drupal and other databases.  If you haven't got what you needed any other way.  File a quick feature request at:

I should be able to do this pretty quickly.

Subject: [support] report detailing user activity

Good morning,

Is there a way to create a monthly report that would tell me how often our web editors are publishing either new or modified content?

Thanks,

Leslie
