in IE 7 I don't see anything. In Chrome and FF I see a white menu that turns read in the 'over' state.

I see them with Chrome.  Maybe a client browser issue, have them try
clearing the browser caches, if that doesn't work then you need the
browser and browser version info from the "About" menu.  Then go to
your theme issue queue and ask.
