Acidfree, at least, isn't smart enough in its current incarnation to make use of OS X's attempts to avoid littering.

The common image files doesn't have resource folk.  If you are talking
about .DS_Store reference file, OSX put them aside to a subdirectory,
'__MACOSX', to try to prevent from littering.
