Another possibility might be that there is a conflict with a different module. Check out the issue queue to see if there is any mentioning.
Did you enable specific editing functions within TinyMCE? If nothing is enabled then possibly the editor would not appear -- just a guess. Otherwise do as Earnie suggests.
