Hi Jain ,
If I explain a bit further , in OLD Drupal version , we were able to do the coding as follows.
print '<img src="'. $theme .'/images/abc.png" alt="'. $site_title .'" id="site-name" />';
But How can we do this in latest drupal ? mainly for basic garland theme.
Regards
Luke.

Yes Luke,
You can use the Logo as site name and
place it in place of sitename.

Go to theme settings, and you can use a Logo to get this done.
