We are diverting from the issue here. But I do have some low-volume sites on shared hosting (at 128M) and they work fine. But I am not doing such an obviously high-memory-usage task.

Some of the shared hosting servers have issues.
I hadn't found one that would allow me full expression of what I wanted.
I finally decided to get a dedicated server.

Graphics do seem to take up quite a bit of memory.
I am using an open source program called blender.
I have 50 different states that I used png files to make swf files.
I am going to be making a graphic header module to cut down on the bandwidth.

What are you using your graphics for?
