I havent tried this with ds. But you can set the argument in the view to use a default value. There you can choose the content id from the current node.
I have created a dynamic field in Display Suite that is set to show a view. The view is out a related author photo. This works fine in Views whe I enter a NID as a possible argument but I cannot figure out how to get the NID of the current node to be passed as an argument.
I appreciate the help with this.
