It sounds like your repository list might be outdated.  Try running...

sudo apt-get update

and then run your apt-get line

sudo apt-get install php5-mysql

Hopefully that will do the trick.

I just checked and those are resolving fine here in Ohio. My guess is
either your network is dying, or you have a DNS issue going on with your
system (or even ISP).
