A possibility, but the 'accepted' module list is out of my control. I did find an example of using:
function hook_rest_server_request_parsers_alter(&$parsers) {
    $parsers['application/xml'] = 'Xml2Array::contentFromStream';
}
with a few functions that use simplexml. But even though the hook fires, the methods never do, so I trying to unbreak things on two different fronts now, hoping one will get me to the finish line :)

You might try www.dgo.to/wsclient, www.dgo.to/views_datasource or www.dgo.to/restws as alternatives to services module.

With Drupal 7 Services, a REST server receiving a POST create request, the callback is receiving an array with the xml tag types but not the attribute data. I have the source xml, the parsed xml and the hook_services_endpoint in the paste http://pastebin.com/v1Up35rw
