Found the answer on the issues page of the site verify module. One has to enter not just the meta tag but the tags as well:<meta name="google-site-verification" content="the verification code" />
It says in the site verify configure page that the meta tag : "This is the full meta tag provided for verification. Note that this meta tag will only be visible in the source code of your front page.". But it is also visible on the page. What can I do to disappear it?

Why are they appearing there I ask myself and you? I used the site-verify module. Anyone have any experience with this?
