You haven’t indicated version of drupal
here. In some versions I’ve found that I needed to set $base_url for sites where
the drupal base directory was not the root of the web server. Setting this may
correct your problem.

I am trying to
login to my site. After I hit login I get a 404. The Url is changed to
http://foo/bar/bar/mysitename/node?destination=node
Somehow the second bar is getting
inserted into the URL. (I used backup and migrate to back it up every day
but can not start the restore as
far as I know. ) Looked in the .htaccess and all is the same. Any ideas?
