The best method of doing this is to use the cck http://drupal.org/project/cck , date http://drupal.org/project/date, calendar http://drupal.org/project/calendar and the views modules http://drupal.org/project/views to create an event node type and add the required fields. Ram, Go to http://drupal.org/project/event Only a dev version is available (see pink section below the green section). But at least it is recent which is a sign it is under active development and likely to come out with a stable version.
