Are you trying to add a logo? One way is to configure the default theme at this path /admin/build/themes. You'll need to check the box to include logo and then upload one lower on that page. FYI: Some themes may over-ride the logo setting in the site configuration set up by Drupal. I use SolarSentinal from RocketThemes, and had to edit their css file.
