@Roger. Minor correction – Drupal and Moodle are two entirely different things. I ’ve used both extensively and really like Moodle. There is a Drupal module (only available for 6.x) that allows for a single signon between a Drupal and a Moodle site, but that ’s about the extent of the integration. I have to admit that, if I wanted to set something up for a school, I ’d go with Moodle. It has all the academic stuff baked in. There’s really no need to mess with Drupal.
