Sorry, missed the Canada connection.
Some options:
Psigate has a Canadian presence, and works fairly well. Good customer
service, clean API.
Beanstream can be a bit of a chore in terms of customer service - plus it's
part of the Verified By Visa program (which is a *nightmare* to pass for
most hosts).
