Yes, it is the developer's responsibility is to fix bugs. It is the 
client's responsibility to pay the developer for that service. Bugs 
happen. Rather than try to deny the fact, plan for it and be sure you 
have a way of being adequately compensated for your time--that is unless 
you are running a 501-(c) Non-Profit Organization.

How does RedHat support Linux? How does MySQL make any money when 
they're giving away the product for free?

I guarantee if you were getting paid well enough for bugs you wouldn't 
be complaining about fixing them, you'd be creating more of them. 
Microsoft figured this out centuries ago.

These be shark infested waters. Seller beware. Don't be so desperate. 
And definitely do not blame Drupal.org for your fundamental legal and 
business failures, thank you.

If you end up in court, learn from your attorney. Like you he's selling 
services. The difference is his industry is much older than yours and 
consequently more organized, and he [hopefully] knows how to protect 
himself legally.
